We find some brides know exactly what colors they want to incorporate into their wedding design but then the other half tend to be overwhelmed by the millions of colors there are to choose from. So we have come up with some simple strategies to help make your wedding planning a little less stressful!
YOUR WARDROBE:
Open your closet doors and check out your own wardrobe to see if there is a color pattern that surfaces. If you are like me and have lots of black and neutral colors then see if you can find one or two colors that pop in your wardrobe. This could be the very source of inspiration you need!
BOOKSTORES ARE YOUR FRIEND:
Start by going to the bookstore and flipping through wedding magazines. Pick out a few of your favorites and take them home and start pulling out pictures that inspire you. Put those pictures in your wedding planning binder and continue to look back at the pictures through out the planning process. Keep the ones you are in LOVE with and toss the ones you are so so about. Eventually you will see a pattern and hopefully you will be well on your way!
One of my new favorite books thanks to Wendy Dahl’s referral is The Knot Ultimate Wedding Lookbook. I love this book because it showcases weddings that are realistic. Many times wedding styling books can be over the top and gives brides an unrealistic view of what you can do for your own wedding. Our clients are real people with real budgets and that is why this book is so great.
SURF THE WEB:
Explore the wedding blog world which has created a place for the modern bride to be inspired. The great thing about blogs is they are free but be careful because they can me a time sucker! LVL’s personal favorites are Style Me Pretty and The Wedding Chicks.
There are resources online that can assist you in picking a color palette. Check out colorhunter.com. This website allows you to upload photos and then it generates the color palette to that specific photo.
WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS CALL THE EXPERTS:
If you still find yourself running in circles call a wedding planner or floral and event designer to help you! That is what we are here for!
